Sales Reluctance... How does your company measure up?

I have met many professionals that refuse to admit that they are in sales. I once spoke with a Real Estate Agent who was adamant that she was not a sales person. She said that she was a consultant, a trusted advisor. She was delusional. "A rose by any other name is still a rose."  Any business that does not sell, does not have any paying customers. If your business does not have a "capture" or sales phase in its' business model, it is out of business.

I have said that if there were no sales people, then I would be Naked (no one to sell me clothes), Hungry (no one to sell me food), Stranded (no one to sell me transportation), Unshaved and smelly (no one to sell me a razor or soap) No teeth (no one to sell me a toothbrush) etc. I think you get the point. And yet there are so many businesses that have not spent any time in sales training for the owner or their employees. Instead they rely on a haphazard approach or instinct alone to convince a potential customer to purchase the service or product provided. There are many companies that resist this phase of the business process because they have been repelled by someone labeled as a sales person. So let me clarify... they have been repelled by a BAD SALES PERSON. The good sales people they encounter fly under the radar and are seen as advisors, consultants, technicians, service or product providers, and friends. Most likely because these people have been trained to ask a series of questions that lead the customer to a conclusion that is a benefit to both the sales person and especially the customer.

Example:         "Would you like fries with that burger" Good Sales Person
"No one eats a burger without fries,  you need to buy fries with that burger" Bad Sales Person

Although this may seem to be a simplistic example to prove the point, never the less, one has been trained with scripts and dialogues, the other has not. The intention is the same, but the outcome is certainly not!

TRUTH POINT: Every person employed in a business, from the owner down to the lowest employed position must be trained to "capture" or sell the service or product offered, as it applies to their position in the company.   We can design the scripts, forms, systems and training to maximize your marketing dollar and capture the customers that up until now have fallen through the cracks.

Q. How much revenue are you loosing due to lack of training or sales reluctance?
